Based in Wilmslow, Cheshire, Ariadne Software Limited is an IBM business partner, and has been the vendor of the widely used and trusted CoolSpools software application for over twenty years.  We are now looking to expand our team of IBM i specialists, and are seeking talented individuals with considerable experience in both application development and product support.

Application development

To be considered for this role you will need to have comprehensive experience in the following:

  • IBM i development (ILE concepts, procedures, service programs, APIs, debugging)
  • RPG III, RPG IV and RPG free programming languages
  • CL programming language
  • Defining IBM i commands, including the use of processing and validation programs
  • Creating and maintaining documentation and help text

Experience in these areas would also be an advantage:

  • Helpdesk ticket management and resolution
  • Knowledge of PDF and Excel (OpenOffice XML) internal structures
  • Java programming and application support

Product Support

A high level of general technical awareness is a prerequisite for this position.

The successful candidates will provide support for customers, implement fixes, develop new functionality and proactively work with the team and clients to ensure that CoolSpools best meets current and future business needs.

They will communicate with the user via a Helpdesk portal to offer guidance, support and advice regarding all aspects of CoolSpools including:

  • Providing assistance with application installation and configuration
  • Assisting new users with no experience to get started with CoolSpools
  • Advising the more experienced with technical techniques and functionality

In addition to advice and guidance in this role, you will also:

  • Test, investigate, identify and develop fixes for issues raised by users
  • Write knowledgebase articles explaining solutions to frequently asked questions
  • Develop small CoolSpools enhancements to deliver customer requirements
  • Build installation materials and fix packs for new product releases
  • Provide pre-sales support such as presentation of product demonstrations
